Ethical & Eco-friendly

The Cat Vet goes green!

It is not what you say, it's what you do that really matters!
I take my responsibility to leave the world a better place very seriously so minimizing the impact I have on the environment is very important to me.

By using an eco-friendly fuel efficient, modern petrol vehicle which minimizes my environmental footprint. I can either drop your repeat prescriptions and food orders to your door when passing by on my regular rounds of the area or for small items a postage option is available - all helping to reduce the numbers of cars on the road.

Wherever possible I avoid using paper, but when essential I always print double-sided to reduce waste. My computerized system ensures invoices are emailed along with your choice of text or email vaccine reminders. I encourage you to download and use the information and advice sheets on this website. All of the vaccination and appointment cards I provide are made from 100% recycled paper. Even the cat litter I recommend is made from biodegradable, natural plant-based material.
The Safe4 disinfectant range is made in the UK and I carefully selected it for its efficacy against cat pathogens whilst ensuring safety for both your cat and the environment. It is also non staining and non corrosive so is perfect for use in the home.  Find out more about this range.

Energy efficient equipment has been carefully selected to ensure we use re-chargeable batteries and low energy LED lighting. From my microscope, drip fluid pump and even the E-scope I use for examining eyes/ears - every little bit counts!

I strongly recommend keeping your cat indoors from dusk til dawn to avoid the negative impact that hunting has on our local wildlife. I also support the use of protective cat secure fencing such as Protectapet so that your cats can enjoy the outdoors whilst minimising the impact on local wildlife.
As a vegetarian, I am an avid supporter of Compassion in World Farming and encourage you to consider checking that the food you buy is sourced from Soil Association and RSPCA approved, local farmers wherever possible. I also support most of PETA's intentions. Buying power really works, so be sure you really understand the spectrum of logos that appear on meat and eggs and find out about how simple choices at the supermarket can help you improve standards of animal welfare.

I use a dedicated crematorium service so your cats are always treated with respect, unlike many practices who still use crematoriums that process pets with the practice's clinical waste (syringes, needles, tissue samples etc).

I endeavour to choose services that share my values, such as the trusted and family run pet crematoriums Chestnut Lodge and Dignity, who have even recently converted to solar power to do their bit for the environment.
