Food for thought
Here I plan to tackle common questions and misunderstandings that cat people have about feline nutrition. It's a volatile topic and one where the internet is your worst enemy I'm sorry to say... at least it led you here though!
Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that so many people with cats are full of good intentions and are on a quest to find the best food to feed their cat - that can only be a good thing! The trouble is they are usually confronted with either hardcore commercial marketing at one end of the spectrum or extremist raw food campaigners and home-made fanatics at the other. There seems to be far less available in the way of helpful balanced evidence-based information in between unless you already know what you're looking for.
I have found that way too many people focus on the nitty gritty of what to feed and think nothing of how or when to feed it. I'm trying to level things out in this respect, so I've put some free content on here to whet your appetite for the sort of reliable information you can learn in my Think Like A Cat online course academy. I don't just teach you about food, I share my approach to all things cat. It's really a way of thinking that once learned can be applied to every other important issue or decision that you and your cat face on your mission to enjoy life together!
If I'm honest, I'm also keen to deter as many people as possible from fishing around for sales-based content or joining radicalised social media groups. Having seen and heard it all - it's scares me to death what you'll find elsewhere!! There are a worryingly high number of what I call "armchair experts" - those people who claim to have done some random "nutrition course" that no bonafide expert has ever heard of; or fellow cat people who for whatever reason think their beliefs, DIY experience or a personal story or two qualify them to concoct a diet and call themselves an expert. Random opinions are not facts and if you remember nothing else about nutrition than this, you are doing well! You're sensible and smart and don't need people who are distributing misinformation and spouting dangerous propaganda trying to cloud your judgement - you and your cat are worth so much more than that.
The food that nourishes your cat and the very act of eating is so very important to both their health and mental well-being. That's why I want to arm you with plenty of facts about feline nutrition that you can consider when deciding what you think is the best option in you and your cat's unique situation. I always suggest you run that decision by your own vet who can point out any specific concerns or suggestions they may have based on your cat's medical history.
