We all like to think we are making the best choices for our cats but one person's idea of what "best" actually means, can vary from the next person. We approach our own lives and those of our cats' very differently because of what we've learned, overheard or experienced. Our decisions about our cats are also based on the different belief systems we hold about animal health and wellbeing, and practicalities like the finances we have available and access to veterinary care. It's complicated!

This section is designed to tackle the many complex ethical issues that affect the modern cat's daily health and wellbeing. It's hard knowing what's right for our cats at times.  All too often I see people with a shared love of felines, flinging verbal mud at each other because they have differing opinions on their cats' diet and lifestyle.

My discussions aren't trying to pass judgement or ignite debate, they're just offering up food for thought on some controversial topics.  I'm aiming to simply present ideas so you have something to contemplate when you're pondering what's best for your cat in the future.

Scruffing cats - is it fair or necessary?
FIP - an honest summary of treatment options
Future topics
Pedigree breed or rescue moggy?
Indoor or outdoor cats - welfare considerations
Feeding cats - home made or commercial diets?
